BAMS Distance Education or Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery through distance education is not valid in India. Candidates can only pursue this course through regular colleges. Can You Pursue BAMS Distance Education in India?
Official Stance
The Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), integrated with the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) under the Ministry of AYUSH, has clearly stated that BAMS will not be conducted through distance education.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has stated that the course will be conducted in the regular format as it requires practical clinical training.

- Some people say that IGNOU offers BAMS, but this is completely wrong.
- Some people also think that a BAMS degree can be obtained online. BAMS degrees earned through online learning are not considered valid in India.

BAMS Distance Education IGNOU: Is It Available?
Many students have the misconception that IGNOU offers a BAMS degree, but that’s not true. IGNOU does not provide this degree.

BAMS Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should have passed 10+2 (Class 12) or an equivalent examination.
As mandatory subjects, they must have Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
For the general category, the minimum percentage required is 50%. For reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC), this percentage ranges from 40% to 45%.
The minimum age should be 17 years, and the maximum age is 25 years. This criteria may vary.
